Post-snow Sunday

We actually did make it out of the house today and the roads were much better than yesterday. We treated ourselves to a yummy Mexican lunch, did some shopping and I even made it to the gym (trying to keep up with my resolution of at least 3 days per week). I think we have had enough snow for the year and I am ready for warm weather. And, I am tired of the snow ruining our plans- last month it ruined our date night and my cookie party. Yesterday we missed a friend’s party because the roads were bad and our babysitter could not make it. Darn snow.

Since we had to entertain ourselves inside for most of the weekend- Hadley buried herseslf in toys and managed to spead them all over our living room.

She has mastered walking with the car- we must have helped her turn around the car 50 times today. She got her exercise walking back and forth but has not quite figured out turning around. She gets quite upset when our sliding glass door gets in the way of all the fun.

Also, read some books and banged on the piano.

Kerry became the perfect object to crawl over and pulling his hair and ears was very funny.

After all that excitement- it was early to bed! We noticed today that Hadley now has eight teeth in various stages of coming through her gums. She has been a trooper this weekend and until she gnawed on my hand today- we had no idea the new ones had popped through. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Swimming, Snowing and Shoveling

We started off the morning with a prediction of snow and as we drove to Hadley’s first swim lesson we saw the first flakes. As the swimming lesson started, it was coming down harder and by the end the sidewalks, cars and streets were covered in snow. Now, it is still coming down and I am going to predict that prediction of 2-4 inches is wrong.

But, before we talk about snow- we need to talk about swimming. Hadley did great for the first 25 minutes of the 30 minute class. When we registered her for the class- our concern was it fell right in the middle of her morning nap but we decided she would be fine. She feel asleep on the way to the rec center but perked up when she saw all the kids.

I was informed after this photo that camera are not allowed until the last class. What???? No pictures of swimming until April?? Oh well.

Anyway, Hadley and Kerry enjoyed themselves in the pool and are looking forward to next week. After all the excitement of swimming and a big lunch- Hadley feel sound asleep. Probably a good thing considering we are not doing anything else today since the roads have not been plowed and we are kind of stuck at the top of the hill.

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Drive gear is broken

One of Hadley’s favorite Christmas presents is this car that Mom found her and she loves to push it around or ride it. Also, she refuses to share it with anyone. However, when she rides it -she only goes backwards. In seriousness, we know that it is easier to propel oneself backwards but we like to say her drive gear must be broken.

Besides riding the car backwards, the other favorite activity of the week is hiding under the blanket. Our pink ghost then crawls around the living room. This is hours of entertainment.

And, as most of you know- I am a big dork and since most of my working career has involved news and or politics- it should not come as a surprise that we have a congratulations on our wedding card from George and Laura Bush. Now, to add to the collection- we have a welcome to the world card for Hadley from Barack and Michelle Obama.

It is nice to see my tax dollars sending us a keepsake.

Up the stairs

Hadley makes a mad dash for the stairs if she thinks she can get through the blockade. Today’s blockade was not so strong.

Don’t worry- this is fully supervised.

And, in case you want to see another attempt.

And, then she takes off.

Besides stair climbing- it was a busy weekend around here. Kerry arranged a surprise date for me on Friday and we had a great dinner! He gets the A+ super husband of the week award :-) Then on Saturday, we had brunch with friends and Hadley enjoyed playing with Shadi and Adam’s son Cyrus. Cyrus is a cutie and was good sport about sharing his toys and getting his pacifier stolen right out of his mouth. I think Hadley was trying to break his habit or was reminiscing about her old one. Then today, Kerry and Hadley stayed home to watch football while I headed to Annapolis for lunch with Mom and a friend’s baby shower. Whew- time to get ready for work tomorrow.

Getting ready for swim lessons

When Hadley was first born and for several weeks after (at least 5-6)- bath time was pure torture on all of us. She would scream the whole time and Kerry and I would try to wash her as quickly as possible. Thankfully, that has changed and now the screaming comes when bath time is over. We are hoping that next weeks start to swim class will be met with the enthusiasm that bath time receives. I mean, the pool is just like a giant tub- right?

Yesterday- Hadley turned 10 months! For the occassion- she stood unassisted for a few seconds. Twice. Of course, we did not get it on camera but both of us were able to see it happen.
